Aliyu dissolves LG Councils, approves caretaker committees

Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Israel Ebije, said sequel to the approval of a committee constituted for compilation and screening, 50 names have been approved for Chairman and Secretary positions across the 25 local government councils in the state

 



Following the expiration of the tenure of Local Government Councils, the Niger State Government on Monday announced the dissolution of local governments and has immediately set up caretaker committees.
Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Israel Ebije, said sequel to the approval of a committee constituted for compilation and screening, 50 names have been approved for Chairman and Secretary positions across the 25 local government councils in the state.
According to Aliyu: “For Agaie LG, Honorable Baba Audu Magaji is named Chairman, while Abubakar Shehu is to serve as his deputy. Lavun, Maina Mohammed is Chairman and Victoria Jiya Secretary.
“The Chairman for Gbako LG is Ibrahim Yakubu, his Secretary is Silas Nmadu. For Mokwa LG, Comrade Jibrin Abdullahi has been made Chairman while Aliyu Jibrin Kusogi is named Secretary.”
The press statement further disclosed that Salisu Mohammed has been named Chairman for Katcha LG while B.M Idris Secretary. For Bida LG, Umar Udota is now the caretaker Chairman while Ndagi A. Baba his Secretary.
For Lapai LG, Isah Saidu Baka is now chairman, Yahaya Jibrin Secretary. Edati LG, Yakubu Botan Chairman, Sani Hassan Secretary. Chanchaga LG, Arch. Abatcha Chairman, Isah Abubakar Secretary. Bosso has Ladidi Bawa as Chairman, Tanko Makeri as Secretary.
In Shiroro LG, Hon, Zakari Tambari is chairman, Umar Yakubu Secretary. Paikoro LG, Abdulahi Paiko Chairman, Abdulkadir Mohammed Secretary. Munya LG, Hon. Bajebaro, Chairman, Luka Danbaki Secretary. Suleja, Yunusa Adamu is Chairman, Hon. Salihu Abdullahi Maje, Secretary.
Barrister Hussaini Garba is now Chairman Gurara LG, Jibrin Taminu Secretary. Rafi LG, Shabiddin Isah Kusherki Chairman, Umaru Ango is his Secretary. Wushishsi LG, Umar Abdullahi Wushishi Chairman, Mohammed Kudu Isah Secretary.
For Magama LG, Dr. Rabiu Bello Chairman, Nasiru Adamu, Secretary. Borgu LG, Abdulraham Mu’azu Cahirman, Zekeri Malale, Secretary. For Agwara LG, Mohammed Faruk Abdulmalik is Chairman, BAniya Garba Secretary. Kontagora, LG, Tsado Attahiru Chairman, Namadi Mohammed Secretary. For Rijau LG, Garba Isah Abara is Chairman, Haruna Nuhu Dukku has been named Secretary.
The new caretakers will be sworn in on Tuesday to pilot the affairs of the councils.
Their mandate, according to the statement, will be announced by Aliyu on Tuesday.
